Sophisticated family fun this half term

If big, brash hotels are your idea of holiday hell, you might be delighted to know that the rather divine looking, adult only, Casa la Siesta, is flinging open its doors to families for the first time this October half term.

The stylish nine bedroomed hotel in Andalucia is owned by the couple behind London design firm Bert & May and they have thought carefully about activities to give every family member a happy holiday.

So, in the morning, lucky parents can get a lie-in while the kids are whisked off to make breakfast in bed for them…we are liking the sound of this already!

Likewise, on some afternoons, while the grown-ups enjoy a long and lazy lunch or relax by the pool, the children will have Spanish lessons – all done through lots of song, dance and stories to make it fun.

At night, early suppers for the children are followed by free babysitting leaving you to eat, drink…and take part in some grown up conversation.

If you want to get out and about, the sandy surfing beaches of the Costa de la Luz beckon. The Moorish village of Vejer de la Frontera is a five minute drive and the ancient city of Cadiz is just half an hour away.

It sounds like the perfect combination to me – plenty of time to enjoy being with your children, some time off as a couple and, best of all, you don’t have to be exposed to non-stop noisy entertainment just to keep your little ones happy.

Plenty of spots for chilling

The lowdown
All rooms have private terraces, air conditioning and underfloor heating, Emperor or King sized beds with Egyptian cotton linen, rain showers, roll top baths and REN goodies! Each room can sleep two adults and one child. Holidays from 22nd-29th October 2016 cost from £831 for two adults and one child sharing a room.  Adjacent rooms for up to three children can be booked at a discounted rate of 35%. I just did the maths (or my calculator did) and that means it’s £540.15. The price includes all activities, babysitter service and breakfasts.

There is also a Mongolian yurt with its own private garden and outdoor shower, suitable for a small family and a private self contained three bedroom casita with private pool.

Casa la Siesta is around a 70 minute drive from Jerez Airport, and one and a half hours from Gibraltar.
